About the speakers:
James Campbell-Sloan
James Campbell-Sloan is Director of Strategy and Economic Development at the City of Mandurah. He is responsible for the City’s Strategic Planning and Economic Development work, Development and Compliance, and Festivals and Events. He is an ex-officio board member of Visit Mandurah and the Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He brings 20 years of experience as a managing economist from different tiers of government and the private sector. James started his career at the Greater London Authority with a focus on unemployment, training and skills development before moving to central government. James’ experience includes roles at the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and HM Treasury.
Since moving to Perth in 2016, James has worked with PwC as a Management Consultant and more recently with Deloitte as a Director of Access Economics. James has covered a wide range of areas in these roles including transport, workforce planning, housing and community development, international economics and mining and resources.
Mayor Caroline Knight
Mayor Caroline Knight has proudly called Mandurah home for 28 years and is dedicated to driving its economic and sustainable growth. With a professional background as a Medical Scientist and extensive experience in governance, Caroline brings a strategic and informed approach to fostering business and community development. Since joining the Council in 2011 and serving as Deputy Mayor before becoming Mayor, she has championed initiatives to enhance Mandurah’s economic resilience and attract investment.
Caroline’s leadership extends to roles such as Deputy Chair of the Peron Naturaliste Partnership and membership in the WA Planning Commission’s Statutory Planning Committee, where she advocates for strategic planning and environmental sustainability. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, she is committed to collaborating with businesses, stakeholders, and the community to build a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous future for Mandurah.
Casey Mihovilovich
Casey Mihovilovich joined the City of Mandurah in 2019 as the Director of Business Services, before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer in April 2023.
Casey came to the City as an experienced and well-respected senior leader in local government, with a leadership approach that is collaborative, strategic and results-driven. Prior to joining the City, Casey held senior positions at the City of Kwinana and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
In partnership with Council, City employees and the community, Casey is committed to delivering an ambitious and progressive agenda for the City. Casey is looking forward to realising the opportunities that lie ahead for Mandurah and is passionate about delivering on these possibilities. She’s committed to leading a high-performing organisation that is focused on the community, and projects that will bring social, environment and economic benefits.
Casey grew up in Mandurah with a strong involvement and career in the national and state basketball leagues and is now raising her own family in Mandurah. In her spare time, Casey enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising and work.
Ian Cadwallander
Ian is the Strategic Development Manager of the Peel Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and has been with the Peel Chamber since moving from Queensland in April 2023. Since 1960, Peel CCI has been the peak industry body for business advocacy within the Peel Region, covering the local government areas of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Boddington, Waroona, Murray and Mandurah.
Ian has more than 25 years’ experience working across a range of medium and large organisations and industries including Banking, FMCG, Coffee and Consultancy. Ian brings extensive experience in sales & marketing, human resources, strategy and stakeholder engagement.
Ian is passionate about increasing the capability of businesses and connecting business together to build a strong and sustainable business community. Communication, transparency and building relationships are the values that Ian believes are the keys to achieving continued growth and success for the Peel Region.
Alan Cransberg
Alan joined the Board in October 2021. He holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Australia (UWA).
Alan has extensive experience in the mining, resources and manufacturing sectors. Alan joined Alcoa in 1980 and worked in a variety of assignments and locations across its Australian and international businesses, prior to being appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Alcoa Australia, and President of Alcoa Refining in 2008.
Alan is a director and Lead Investment Committee Chairman of SAS Resources Trust, a member of the UWA Business School Board, Deputy Chairman of Peel Development Commission and Chairman of the Waalitj Foundation.
His board experience includes as a director of John Swire and Sons Pty Ltd, as a director and Deputy Chairman of Black Swan Theatre Company, and as a director and Chairman of the West Coast Eagles Football Club.
Alan was a founding member of the Foundation to Prevent Violence Against Women and Their Children, as well as being a founding member of the CEO’s for Gender Equity in Western Australia.
Myrianthe Riddy
Myri owns Sea West: this is a Western Australian marine tourism company. Her company is one of the largest operators in its sector, carrying tens of thousands of guests each year, while ensuring a high standard of safety and customer satisfaction.
Prior this, Myri worked in the Oil and Gas sector. Here, she spent 17 years with Shell – joining their Graduate scheme in London, moving into LNG Trading and then Senior Commercial Management of LNG Joint Ventures, such as Qatargas 4. This gave her valuable skills in business development, leadership and management, and allowed me to live internationally and work with diverse cultures.
Myri is passionate about developing others, supporting industry and local communities. In this context, Myri also serves as the Chair of the Peel Development Commission, whose purpose is to foster regional development through economic growth.
