Osprey flying with a fish in it's grasp

About the Event

Join us at the Mandurah Museum this August for a fascinating presentation by guest speaker Lisa Wray, who will introduce the Peel Harvey Estuary Osprey Monitoring Program & Adopt an Osprey Nest Program.

Launched in Autumn 2024, this exciting new project aims to monitor and protect one of our region’s most iconic birds – the osprey. These majestic raptors soar above our waterways, diving for fish and nesting along our coastlines.

Did you know the Peel-Harvey estuary, the Serpentine River and the Murray River are home to the largest osprey population in Western Australia?

Come along to:

  • Discover how many ospreys live in our region
  • Learn where they nest and when they breed
  • Find out how you can get involved in the survey

This season, the project is calling for volunteers to “adopt” a nesting site and report on the progress of a breeding pair. With community support, Lisa’s aim is to track the number of active nests and monitor chick survival rates across the inlet.

Come be part of this important local conservation effort – your observations could make a real difference!
