Work has now commenced on the replacement of the roof above the indoor 25m pool at the Mandurah Aquatic & Recreation Centre.
The works are expected to take around 8 months with an anticipated completion of late 2023.
April 2023 Update: We are happy to announce the we are now moving into Phase 2 of the works. Please view below phases and what the community can expect in each phase of the construction below.
Phase 1: Design
What is happening?
- Contractors on site
- Minor activity in car parking area
- Some car parking will be redirected to the large overflow carpark opposite the MARC with access on the corner of Adana and Rigel Street
How will customers be impacted?
- During Phase 1, impacts to customers will be minimal
Phase 2: Demolition
What is happening?
- Contractors will set up offices on site in the small overflow car parking area
- Access to the carpark via the entrance directly off Pinjarra Road may be impacted
- The removal of the existing pool roof will commence
How will customers be impacted?
- For the safety of customers and staff, some programming and services may be impacted as contractors go through the demolition phase
- There will be no access to the Wellness Centre (spa and sauna) from May and it is anticipated that this function will not be available until project completion
- Entry to the MARC car park will be limited at the entry directly off Pinjarra Road
- Customers may be required to access the car park from the south side of the building
Phase 3: Construction of new roof structure
What is happening?
- Once demolition is complete, the construction of the new roof over the indoor 25m pool will commence. This is expected to take 6 months to complete.
How will customers be impacted?
- For the safety of customers and staff, some programming and services may be impacted as contractors go through the demolition phase
- There will be no access to the Wellness Centre (spa and sauna) from May and it is anticipated that this function will not be available until project completion
- Entry to the MARC car park will be limited at the entry directly off Pinjarra Road
- Customers may be required to access the car park from the south side of the building
