Local Emergency Services volunteers were recognised for their dedication and efforts in assisting the community at a special awards ceremony on October 18.

Hosted by the City of Mandurah with the theme ‘Dedicating Time, Saving Lives’, the biennial Emergency Services Volunteer Appreciation Evening brought together service units from across Mandurah to network and show appreciation towards those who dedicate their time to saving lives and property.

Held at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club, nine Community Spirit Awards were presented to individuals, response teams and units for their contributions towards supporting and protecting the community throughout the year.

The recipients of the 2023 Community Spirit Awards are:

  • Richard Gibson – Mandurah Southern Districts Bushfire Brigade
  • Nathan Mathews – Mandurah Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service
  • Falcon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service – unit award
  • Mandurah St John Ambulance, Event Health Services – unit award
  • Dawesville St John Ambulance – unit award
  • Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving Club – Port Bouvard Youth Members
  • Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club – Mandurah Patrol Team
  • Mandurah Volunteer Marine Rescue Group – unit award
  • Mandurah State Emergency Service – unit award
