Giants of Mandurah by Thomas Dambo - Marlee Reserve

The secret is out! Our beloved Giants of Mandurah are officially here to stay, and we couldn’t be happier.

Last week, the Giants wrote a special poem to Mayor Rhys Williams and the community, confirming they will be staying in our beautiful city, continuing to bring pride and excitement among Mandurah’s natural areas.

The Giants of Mandurah exhibition is an Australian first for world renowned recycle artist Thomas Dambo. Since their arrival in November last year, they have become an important and treasured part of Mandurah’s story and have captured the imagination and creativity of the community and visitors from far and wide.

Not only is the community immensely proud to be Australia’s home of these amazing wooden sculptures, but the arrival of the Giants also helped lead to incredible success across the local tourism sector.

The Mandurah Visitor Centre has experienced unprecedented visitor numbers through its door since the Giants were unveiled with a whopping 300 percent increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year. Plus a number of local tourism businesses have now incorporated Giant-themed tourism experiences into their offerings.

There’s no doubt these larger-than-life artistic displays have left a lasting impression on all who meet them, people from all corners of the country and beyond. Mandurah is proud to continue to embrace the Giants and continue the momentum this incredible exhibition has helped to create.

Read the special Giants of Mandurah poem below:

Dear Mayor Williams and community, oh so dear,
We share these words with you, in heartfelt cheer.

Enchanted by Mandurah's magic, we've come to say,
Our stay shall extend, in the bush and on this wonderful bay.

"Why bid farewell?" we contemplated,
"When each day presents an exciting new chapter, so celebrated?"

A charm, we've become, part of Mandurah's embrace,
Our home and our hearts in this extraordinary place,

An open invitation to all who draw near,
To learn of this land, its people, stories so dear.

Let's journey together, our tale's far from done,
We look forward to calling Mandurah home for years to come.
