Mandurah is turning up the festive cheer with a huge range of celebrations and family favourites plus the return of the magical Christmas Lights Trail for all to enjoy over the holidays.

The City of Mandurah’s award-winning ‘Christmas in Mandurah’ program has something for everyone, with locals and visitors set to enjoy the wonder and excitement of Christmas throughout Mandurah’s city centre and waterfront spaces.

Mayor Rhys Williams encouraged everyone to experience the charm of the festive season in Mandurah, Australia’s Top Tourism Town.

“Mandurah has had an absolutely stellar year, and we have so many reasons to celebrate this Christmas,” Mayor Williams said. “Just like the Giants of Mandurah, the Christmas in Mandurah program is free and full of great family friendly experiences. We want to make sure all people can enjoy what we’ve got to offer in Mandurah this Christmas.

“From the incredible success of the award-winning Giants of Mandurah to Mandurah’s big wins in the tourism sector, our city has gone from strength to strength this year and further cemented itself as a must-see destination. Adding to the celebrations, our Christmas in Mandurah program recently won a Bronze award at the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.

“What better time to come and enjoy everything Mandurah has to offer than at Christmas time, including our local award-winning businesses. A huge thanks to our sponsors and partners who have made it possible for us to deliver the Christmas cheer. Mandurah really shines at this time of the year – it’s the place to be!”

A $70,000 Lotterywest grant has given a welcome boost to this year’s Christmas in Mandurah line up, with something for the whole family to enjoy each night until Christmas Eve including music, roving entertainment, stage performances, crafts and more.

Member for Mandurah David Templeman MLA said: “The City of Mandurah has a great history of putting on amazing, festive events for local families full of Christmas cheer, and I can’t wait to see how exciting this year’s Christmas in Mandurah events will be”.

“From the Christmas Pageant to the Mandurah Christmas Light Trail, it will be a delightful time for the whole family. I’m so proud that the State Government is supporting this initiative through a $70,000 Lotterywest grant, which helps make the magic happen,” Mr Templeman said.

“I’d encourage everyone in the local community to come on out to get together and enjoy the Christmas period in the City of Mandurah.”

For the second year, the City is welcoming Ray White Mandurah as the official presenting partner of the Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail and the Mandurah Christmas Pageant.

Ray White Mandurah Selling Director Theo Alexandrou said: “Christmas in Mandurah brings the community together unlike any other event on the calendar, which is why we are proud to be presenting partners for the Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail and the Mandurah Christmas Pageant this year".

“As well as supporting City events, our team loves to get involved and is dedicated to facilitating some amazing activations that we run throughout December for the community, which this year includes the addition of our ‘Christmas Lights Competition - In The Suburbs' which aims to spread festive cheer all throughout Mandurah’s
suburbs.”

Local radio station Coast FM is also the official media partner for the City of Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The City of Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail will light up the night from Friday, 1 December with more than 30 amazing installations featured along the trail stretching from Smart Street Mall over to Mandurah Ocean Marina.

The ever-popular lights trail includes favourites such as the train, Christmas tree, giant reindeer, kombi van and enormous Santa. Plus new additions this year include candy canes, a Christmas tree archway, a cheeky elf and four augmented reality experiences. There are photo opportunities galore along the trail, including a ‘selfie’ wreath to take the perfect Instagram snap, plus other crowd pleasers including a pirate ship, present boxes, stars, the Christmas countdown clock and sparkling Christmas trees floating in the Mandurah estuary.

Follow the Lights Trail from Smart Street Mall to the top of Mandurah Terrace, along the Eastern Foreshore and over to Mandjar Square and the Marina, enjoying a range of local cafes, restaurants and bars along the way. The lights can be enjoyed up until Sunday, 7 January 2024 (inclusive).

On Friday, 1 December, colour and creativity will spill onto Mandurah’s main streets for the City of Mandurah Christmas Pageant, presented by Ray White Mandurah. The Pageant will start at 6pm, with decorated floats weaving their way along Mandurah Terrace, starting and finishing at the Cooper Street/Mandurah Terrace intersection. The best viewing locations will be along the Eastern Foreshore, and Mandurah Terrace between Cooper and Tuckey streets.

The community can once again welcome the new year in style with a spectacular City of Mandurah New Year’s Eve fireworks display on December 31, with a number of great vantage points around the city centre. There will be two fireworks displays to enjoy at 9pm and midnight, and local station Coast FM is on board to provide an epic soundtrack to the displays.
