
A Total Fire Ban has been announced for Sunday, 18 February from 12.00am to 11.59pm. Details of Total Fire Bans for the area can be accessed at emergency.wa.gov.au.
A Total Fire Ban occurs on days when fires are most likely to threaten lives and property and are declared by DFES.
During this period, the following activities are strictly prohibited:
• NO open-air fires, solid fuel BBQs or pizza ovens are permitted
• NO hot works (e.g. welding, grinding, cutting, heating etc) outside of a suitably enclosed area
• You cannot use an engine, vehicle, plant, equipment or machinery, powered by an internal combustion engine, Off-road such as in the bush, paddock or on any land which contains vegetation (alive or dead). This includes motorbikes, quad bikes, excavators, chain saws, lawnmowers and generators
Giants of Mandurah, Island Point, Tims Thicket and Whitehill’s Access Restrictions
To minimise the risk of bushfires, the City of Mandurah has implemented closures at Island Point Reserve, Lake Clifton Giant (Jyttes Hytte) in Yalgorup National Park and Marlee Reserve Giant (Little Lui). The Giants at Wannanup, Halls Head, and Coodanup will remain accessible.
Please note that the Total Fire Ban also restricts access to Tims Thicket and White Hills.
