New Creative Extension Residencies to Support Artists in 2026
CASM is excited to announce the launch of its new Creative Extension Artist Residency Program, set to begin in 2026.
Developed to support artists at key stages of their creative journey, this new initiative runs alongside CASM’s established Artist Residency Program and offers participants time, space, mentorship, and professional support to help them create, grow, and connect.
The Creative Extension residencies aim to nurture artistic development and strengthen Mandurah’s thriving creative community.
Three Residency Streams
The Creative Extension Program offers three distinct residency opportunities, each tailored to different stages of an artist’s career and practice.
1. Extension Emerge Residency
For: Emerging artists aged 18–25
Duration: 3 months
Location: CASM, 63 Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah
This residency is designed for early-career artists ready to develop their personal practice within their local community. Participants will receive professional mentorship, financial support, and free studio space, helping them build a strong foundation for a sustainable creative career.
Open to individual or collaborative applicants.
2. Extension Connect Residency
For: Artists exploring community-engaged practice
Duration: 3 months
Location: CASM or a community-based location
Extension Connect offers artists the opportunity to design and deliver a community arts project that aligns with their creative interests.
Through mentorship, project funding, and workspace access, artists will engage directly with local community members to spark creativity, connection, and collaboration.
3. Extension Evolve Residency
For: Artists developing a solo or group exhibition
Duration: 6-month residency + 6 months post-residency support + exhibition
Location: CASM, 63 Ormsby Terrace, Mandurah
This in-depth residency supports artists to create a new, exhibition-ready body of work, culminating in a solo exhibition at CASM.
Participants receive curatorial guidance, production support, and mentorship throughout, with continued assistance beyond the residency to help realise their final vision and explore future touring opportunities.

Applications are open to individual artists and collaborative groups, with each program designed flexibly to suit the needs and goals of participating artists.
