An epic adventure awaits!

Explore the Australian-first exhibition, Giants of Mandurah where a series of larger-than-life wooden sculptures have taken up residence in picturesque secret locations throughout Mandurah.

It is a free-to-view outdoor expedition celebrates the unique diversity, extraordinary beauty and importance of protecting our natural world, including Mandurah’s globally significant Ramsar-listed wetlands, unique waterways, bushland and wildlife. The story of the Giants sits alongside and is inextricably intertwined with a creation story of Mandurah, gifted by the region’s Traditional Owners – the Bindjareb people.

Prepare for an adventure!

Your mission begins at the Mandurah Visitor Centre where you then must choose your own adventure on your journey to discovering each of Thomas Dambo’s hidden Giants of Mandurah. Collect all the clues along the way to reveal the location of the final Giant, but shhhhhhhhhh…..can you keep a secret? Don’t ruin this game for anyone else.

The Giants of Mandurah has been initiated and produced by FORM Building a State of Creativity and delivered in collaboration with the City of Mandurah. The project is supported by the State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

We are pleased to announce that one of Dambo's Giants is on its way to the leafy suburb.

The Giant is part of an Australian-first exhibition by world-renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo called the Giants of Mandurah, which will launch to the public on Saturday 12 November. 

Of the lost Giant, artist Thomas Dambo said, “After accidentally being separated from their Giant friends, this particularly curious Giant has wandered off on their very own adventure. We have it on very good authority that after embarking on a long journey from Mandurah and seeing many of the beautiful sites of Western Australia, it is due to arrive in the leafy surrounds of Subiaco on the 12th of November.”

FORM Building a State of Creativity and the City of Mandurah are pleased to announce that Thomas Dambo’s Australian-first exhibition Giants of Mandurah will officially launch to the public on Saturday 12 November. This follows the June 2022 announcement that this iconic series of wooden sculptures from the renowned recycle artist will call Western Australia home.

Dambo has exhibited extensively throughout the world including Denmark, USA, France, Germany, China, South Korea and Chile. Both an artist and activist, Dambo’s practice celebrates the diversity, beauty and importance of the natural world, with the artist’s works handmade using recycled and locally sourced materials.

A series of enormous wooden sculptures will call Western Australia home when they are built and installed by their creator, internationally renowned Danish recycle artist Thomas Dambo, in the City of Mandurah, an hour south of Perth.

Initiated and produced by FORM – Building a State of Creativity Inc. and delivered in collaboration with the City of Mandurah with support from Tourism WA, Thomas Dambo’s Sculptures in Western Australia is an Australian-first major cultural tourism project that is anticipated to bring thousands of visitors to Mandurah and Western Australia’s Peel region, in what will also be a boost for the local economy.
