Mandurah Museum is inviting the community to step back in time and discover the stories that have shaped our city during a month-long program of Heritage Month activities from 18 April to 18 May.

Celebrating the Australian Heritage Festival 2026 theme, Change, this year’s program explores how Mandurah has evolved over time through engaging talks, children’s activities, guided experiences and an exhibition designed to engage visitors of all ages.

A highlight of the program is The History of Mandurah in 12 Objects exhibition, running from 21 April to 12 June, which showcases twelve carefully selected objects that reveal the everyday stories, people and moments that have helped define Mandurah’s identity. The exhibition offers a unique perspective on the city’s heritage through items small in scale but rich in meaning.

Families are encouraged to bring children along to enjoy interactive activities designed for ages 5–12, including photo matching, sea creature measuring and a bridge puzzle that explores how Mandurah has changed over time in fun and creative ways.

The Heritage Month program also features two special historical presentations. On Thursday 23 April, visitors can learn about David Smythe Murray, an early Magistrate in Mandurah, in a talk presented by Vince Taylor. On Thursday 30 April, Danielle Eyre BSc will present insights into the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council’s Science Strategy and its vision for healthy waterways.

Visitors can also take part in a Guided Heritage Walk on Friday 8 May, offering a fascinating journey through Mandurah’s streets to uncover how the city has transformed over the years.
